How can I become a Christian?

It doesn't matter what country or what family you have been brought up in - none of us are born as Christians. It is what we "believe" that makes us one!

What do I need to believe to become a Christian?

All you have to do is believe in Jesus - what He did and taught.

Here are some of the things Jesus did & taught...

Jesus came to help

God did not want us all to go to Hell and so He made a way for us to be forgiven so that we could go to Heaven to be with Him. He did this by sending Jesus (God the Son) to this earth to save us.

Jesus was born as a baby, grew to be a man and lived on this earth like you and me. But unlike us He never did anything wrong (He was perfect). He did amazing things and taught people how to follow Him.

Nobody is perfect

Nobody is perfect, we all do things that are bad.

Because you have done bad things you have let God down and failed Him. Because God is holy, just, fair and loving He cannot just ignore the bad that you do and so you deserve to be punished by Him.

Everybody does bad things and deserves to go to Hell to be punished and there is nothing we can do to change this.

Jesus was killed

Most people didn't believe that Jesus was sent by God and so they killed Him for claiming to be the Saviour (Messiah), they killed Him for blasphemy.

While Jesus was being killed, His Father in Heaven punished Him for the bad things that WE do. Jesus had never done anything wrong but He was punished for the sins of men and women like you and me so that we could go free.

Jesus is coming back

Jesus didn't stay dead - 3 days later He came back to life. A little while later He was taken up to Heaven and is still alive today.

One day Jesus will come back to this earth as a Judge and a King.

If I believe this what difference should it make to me?

If you really believe in Jesus then you will love Him because He has loved you and done so much for you. You will want to say sorry to Him for doing bad things and ask Him to save you, then you will be forgiven for the things you have done wrong and avoid going to Hell for ever. When you believe in Jesus you want to do the things that He wants you to do.

Everyone needs to believe in Jesus, He is the only one that can rescue us, we can't rescue ourselves!
